During his four-year professional triathlon career, Elite owner David Greenfield felt top-level cyclists needed a viable alternative to the mass produced off-the-peg frame sizes and tubing offered by the major bicycle companies. He challenged himself to build affordable bicycles with custom sizes using the absolute highest-grade aluminium tubing at proces competitive to standardized bikes being sold to top-level atheletes in both the pro and amateur ranks.

Thousands of miles ridden on ill-fitting bikes with substandard frame materials led him to realize exactly what design and materials worked best, both for comfort and performance. Elite was formed to take advantage of the industry-wide technology boom that allowed smaller builders to compete with larger companies without being at a technology disadvantage. As a result, Elite now buys the highest-quality tubing, uses the top welders and paint houses in the industry, and employs the absolute best design characteristics while offering customized tubing options and paint finishes at prices competitive with larger bike manufacturers.

Crafted in the USA from American-made parts, Elite's parts use Easton Ultra-Light and Easton Scandium tubing – the highest-rated lightweight aluminium in the world. Each frame's airfoil design is also wind-tunnel tested to enture optimal performance. Complete bike packages are built using only the highest-quality components, including Reynolds forks (and seat stays on specific models). In addition to building custom fit bikes for athletes looking for an edge, a full range of standard-sized frames featuring the same design elements are also available at dealers worldwide.

To deliver maximum value across the entire product line, Elite maintains low overhead costs by purchasing large quantities of technologically advanced Easton tubing, employing a relatively small staff, outsourcing the welding and painting to the industry-recognized leaders in those arts, and work from its modest headquarters in Philadelphia.

Elite riders share a common bond of appreciation for their bikes, and Elite prides itself on maintaining close relationships with its growing family of riders. Elite actively seeks feedback from its customers and is excited by and shares in each individual's personal accomplishments – often as they happen, as David Greenfield is present to support the athletes at many of the important races around the world.

Elite is proud to be the bike of choice for many professional athletes, including ITU World Cup Champions, Ironman Champions, top ten Olympians, and Duathlon World Champions such as Sheila Taormina, Steven Sheldrake, Cecily Tynan, Joe Bonness and Maryellen Powers. Each of these athletes rides Elite bicycles not because they are paid to (Elite does not provide free equipment), but because they believe Elite gives them a critical edge they need to win.

By bringing together top frame designs, materials, welders, painters, and components, Elite builds bicycles that deliver maximum performance and value for every customer – from professional athlete to weekend warrior.
